The Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued a recall for around 37,000 Little Giant multipurpose ladders from Wing Enterprises. The recall involves the Little Giant Velocity, LT, and Liberty models, which have joints with locking pins and rung fasteners. These joints, which allow the ladder to lock in various positions, have been known to come apart. As a result, anyone on the ladder faces a high risk of falling down and sustaining one or more injuries.
The ladders were sold between March 2016 and February 2017 through a variety of retailers, including PPG Paints stores, Amazon.com, DirectBuy.com, Eladders.com, Grainger.com, Homedepot.com, 1800Ladders.com, LittleGiantLadder.com, Lowes.com, Overstock.com, Samsclub.com, Target.com, and Wayfair.com.
Wings Enterprises has urged customers to stop using the ladders immediately and to contact them for a free repair kit. But is this really in your best interest when you are dealing with a painful injury? Our attorneys are here to advise you of your legal options, so please contact us for a free case review.
Injuries from Defective Ladder Accidents
As we’ve mentioned, the pins and fasteners on the joints of these ladders can fail, thereby causing the ladder to become unstable. Here are some examples of the injuries you can end up with if you fall down from a Little Giant ladder.
- Traumatic brain injury, concussion, and skull fracture
- Neck and back injuries – whiplash, spinal cord damage
- Hip fracture or broken pelvis
- Dislocated joints, especially in the shoulders, knees, and elbows
- Nerve damage that can lead to permanent paralysis
- Deep cuts and puncture wounds
Compensation may be available if you or your loved one was harmed by a defective product, but you must act quickly to preserve the necessary evidence and initiate a claim for damages. Please give us a call to learn about your rights and legal options from one of our attorneys.
Steps to take if You were Injured by a Defective Wing Enterprises Ladder
No matter what type of product you were injured by, there are specific actions you must take in order to receive compensation from the manufacturer. Here is a list of what to do if you’ve been injured by a defective ladder:
- Take photos of the damaged product, your injuries, and the accident scene.
- Get to a hospital as soon as possible for medical treatment.
- Once you’ve been treated, contact the manufacturer to report the incident and the damages you’ve incurred. However, do not agree to return the product or accept any type of refund or compensation.
