Tour Bus Accident Palm Springs I-10 Highway -10-23-2016
Update: 10/23/2016 10:30 a.m. (pst)Shortly after 5:00 a.m. this morning, a massive tour bus carrying 40+ people plowed into the rear-end of a tractor trailer on the 10 westbound. The death toll continues to rise with a reported 13 killed. The impact, and the intensity of the impact mangled the metals of the tour bus and tractor trailer together. The photos of the accident evidence the ferocious and deadly nature of the crash. Currently the 10- westbound is closed pending the completion of an investigation by state and local authorities. The cause of the crash has yet to be determined, but it looks as if the tour bus violently, and forcefully rear-ended the tractor trailer, causing the injuries and damages sustained by the victims aboard the tour bus. As of 7:30 this morning 7 people were confirmed dead. 2 hours later, around 9:30 a.m. the death count rose to 11 confirmed dead.
The numbers continue to rise as firefighters continue to use ladders to board the massive tour bus in hopes of pulling bodies from the mangled metals, smoke, and debris from this massive collision. The palm springs hospital which contains the only trauma center in the valley is flooded with injured victims in desperate need of medical attention. Currently there are 5 people in critical condition, 3 in serious condition, and 6 with minor injuries. Victims of the tour bus crash have also been transported to all three (3) valley hospital Desert Regional Medical Center, Eisenhower Medical Center and JFK Memorial Hospital. A long time physician at the only trauma center in the valley said that in his 6 years working at the hospital, this was the largest number of victims he has seen from a single crash.
