Textron recalled around 143,000 of their personal transportation vehicles (PTVs) on February 10, 2023, due to issues with an electronic board. The board, which powers the USB port, can overheat and create a fire hazard as it ignites nearby components. The manufacturer has received 30 reports so far of overheating, resulting in fires and property damage. Recalled vehicles include the Freedom and Valor E-Z-GO RXV, serial numbers 5585710 through 5716926 from model years 2021, 2022 and 2023. Valor, Express, and Liberty E-Z-GO TXT models have been recalled as well, from model years 2021, 2022 and 2023 with serial numbers 3478457 through 3591890.

Injuries from a Vehicle Fire Accident
Overheating inside an electric vehicle is a serious fire hazard that can inflict life-altering injuries. Obviously, burn injuries are the biggest concern, especially when they penetrate through the skin layers and damage the tissues, nerves, and bones underneath. Even superficial burns can cause scarring and disfigurement, which are permanent reminders of a traumatic event.
You may also have significant property damage from an accident that’s caused by the electronic board overheating on your vehicle. Damage to your home, yard, personal belongings, etc., can also be included in a defective product accident claim. To learn more about the compensation you can receive, please contact our office.
Steps to Take after a PTV Accident
Please don’t delay in taking the following steps if you’ve been injured on a Textron PVT. That way, you can protect your rights as an accident victim and ensure that you have a solid case against the manufacturer:
- Start the process of gathering evidence by taking photos / video of your injuries. Capture images of the accident scene as well to establish a clear link between your injuries and the defective product.
- Obtain contact info from any witnesses that saw your accident.
- Go to a hospital as soon as possible, since you will need medical records to file an injury claim.
- Notify the manufacturer of your accident, but refuse to give a recorded statement if they ask for one. In addition, don’t agree to have the vehicle repaired for free, since doing so can take away your right to file a lawsuit.
- Seek legal advice right away from a knowledgeable personal injury attorney.
