On August 18, 2021, TJX issued a recall (number 21-184) for their Swivel Counter Stools. According to the recall, the counter stools can potentially break or collapse, resulting in a fall and injury risk to consumers. The recall has affected approximately 4,300 products.
The recall specifically involves the stools with wooden legs, fabric backrests, and riven trim around the seat. The chairs were available in a dark fray, light gray, and blue/cream herringbone fabrics as well as in gray faux leather. The affected stools are about 36 inches tall (to the top of the backrest); the seat is about 25.5 inches from the floor.
The following style numbers are affected by the recall: 61057, 61063, 61064, 62332, 65129, 65130, 66413, and 66414 (the number can be found printed on the hang tag).
The defective stools were sold at HomeGoods, Homesense, HomeGoods/T.J. Maxx or Marshalls combination stores around the country. They were available from January 2021 to May 2021 for approximately $130 each.
The company has received at least 20 reports of the counter stools breaking and causing consumers to fall; 17 of these reports included minor injuries (although the types of injuries were not specified).
The company is urging consumers affected by the recall to return them in store for either a full refund or a store gift card; however, this is the last thing that consumers affected by the defective counter stools should do especially if they were injured.
If you or a member of your family suffered an injury as a direct result of the defective counter stools recently recalled by TJX, you might have grounds to file a lawsuit. It is important that you seek the guidance of a product liability lawyer to learn more about your right to file a defective product lawsuit.

Potential Injuries
Broken chair incidents could cause unsuspecting parties to fall onto the floor and potentially suffer devastating injuries. Some of the injuries that consumers could suffer due to the defective counter stools include the following:
- Back injuries
- Hip injuries
- Pelvic injuries
- Spinal cord injuries
- Herniated discs
- Neck injuries
- Fractures
- Lacerations
- Sprains and strains
Regardless of the type of injuries that you or a member of your family suffered as a result of the defective TJX counter stools, you might have grounds to sue. It is important that you find a lawyer that could help you take action against the negligent company.
Is there a Class Action Lawsuit?
Can I file a class action lawsuit? How can I join or be a part of a class action lawsuit on this case? If the defective product harmed many parties, then it is likely that there is a class action claim in which you could participate. A class action lawyer can help you figure out how to join the specific class action lawsuit. In some cases, there might be mass torts rather than a class action lawsuit – mass torts are single claims against the same company. For more information about how to proceed with your claim, do not hesitate to contact our recall lawyers as soon as possible.
