On June 3, 2021, Kalorik issued a recall for their Kalorik Pro 1500F Electric Steakhouse Grills. According to the recall, number 21-752, the knobs of the grills are electroplated incorrectly and can pose a risk of electric shock to users after the grill has preheated. The recall affects approximately 3,525 products in the U.S.
The recall includes the Kalorik Pro 1500F Electric Steakhouse Grill, specifically Model KPRO GR 45602. The affected grills have the following date codes and PO numbers:
- 2019 – PO20-0065
- 2026 – PO20-0259
- 2032 – PO20-0305
- 2033 – PO20-0336
The grills have “Kalorik Pro” engraved on the front of the grill above the rectangular opening. The grills have a digital display between the two control knobs also on the front of the grill but below the grill opening. The grills measure 14x10x16 inches.
The defective grills were available online at hammacher.com, acehardware.com, bestbuy.com, macys.co, homedepot.com, qvc.com, bedbathandbeyond.com, kohls.com, Walmart.com, amazon.com, and kalorik.com. They were available from July 2020 through March 2021 for about $400 each.
According to the company, there have been reports of at east five consumers suffering electric shock due to the grills (only three of these incidents were in the U.S.). The company is recommending that consumers stop using the grills immediately and is offering free repair kits.
