On August 3, 2023, Maggie’s Farm issued a recall for their 14 ounce Bed Bug & Flea Killer (recall number 23-252). According to the recall, the pressurized aerosol bug spray can suddenly rupture and expel shrapnel. This poses a significant risk of injury and lacerations to consumers. In addition, any leakage of the contents can result in eye and skin irritation.
The recall affects approximately 14,500 units of the product. The recalled spray cans are green; they have a red target on the front and a red bar along with the company logo. The product can be identified by UPC 811249020540 and Lot Number 0101325. The UPC can be found below the barcode on the product, and the lot number can be found printed on the bottom of the can.
The recalled spray cans were sold at Meijer, Big Y, Stop & Shop, Woodman’s, and defense commissary locations around the country. They were also sold online via Amazon.com, Walmart.com, and maggiesfarmproducts.com. They were sold for prices ranging from $6 to $12.
According to the recall, there have been at least four reports of the spray cans rupturing. However, no injuries have been reported.
The company is urging consumers to immediately stop using the product, take a photo of the can and the lot code, wrap it in either a plastic bag or layers of paper, and dispose of it. However, if you or a loved one was injured by the product, disposing of the remains of the products is not a good idea. Instead, you should keep the product in a safe place and explore the legal options available to you. Depending on the details surrounding the incident and the harm that you suffered, you could have grounds to file a lawsuit and recover compensation.

Is there a Class Action Lawsuit on this Case?
Although there is no class action claim, there can be. When it comes to defective products, class action claims and mass tort claims are common. This is because many consumers can be affected in very similar ways. How can I join or be a part of a class action lawsuit on this case? In general, participating in a class action claim is as simple as reaching out to the class action lawyer and choosing to join the case. What if there isn’t already a claim? Can I file a class action lawsuit? Yes – you can be the first person to start a class action claim. However, things will likely take longer because the lawyer will need to gather more clients and establish the “class” before being able to proceed.
