IKEA issued a recall on February 9, 2023 for the IKEA ODGER Swivel Chairs in anthracite (gray) due to a defect with the chair’s leg. The base of the leg can break and cause the user to fall out of the chair. The recall affects around 12,000 chairs, which are stamped with the name of the product underneath the seat. Consumers can also look for a date stamp before and including “2221,” which represents the model year followed by the week (YY/WW).
The manufacturer has urged customers to stop using the chairs immediately and to return them to a local IKEA store for a full refund. A refund, however, will not compensate you if you’ve already had an accident with this product. So far, there have been 4 complaints of accidents due to the leg breaking, including 2 reports of injuries. As someone who has been harmed by one of these swivel chairs, please take a moment to contact our office. We can help you get the justice you deserve and ensure that the manufacturer pays for the harm they’ve caused you.
