How To Obtain A Traffic Collision Report from the San Diego Sheriff’s Department
Requests for police reports to the San Diego Police Department (SDPD) can be made in person or through the mail. Requests must be submitted along with a fee of $12. Payment is only accepted via checks or money orders made payable to the City of San Diego. To request a police report you will need the names of the parties involved, the exact or approximate date and location in which the incident occurred, and, if available, report and incident numbers.
If you make your request in person, you will need to present valid identification and provide the information listed above. You should provide as much information as possible. If a third-party must pick up the report, he or she must provide valid identification along with a written authorization form.
In-person requests must be made at the SDPD Records Public Counter during the location’s hours of operation. The address and hours are listed below:

- Monday-Friday 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
To make your request via the mail, you will need to provide all the information listed above, a check or money order covering the $12 fee, a self-addressed and stamped envelope, and a copy of valid identification. Send your request to the following mailing address:
