How To Obtain A Traffic Collision Report from the Riverside Police Department
Police reports from the Riverside Police Department are available upon request. Only parties somehow involved in the accident have the legal authority to request a copy of a report. Involved parties include drivers, passengers, parents or guardians of minor passengers, insurance agents, and attorneys. Others who are not involved in the accident can make a request only with written authorization from someone that is involved.
Accident police reports are available to be requested about ten working days after the incident. After this time has passed, you can make a request online, in person, or by mail. Requests are subject to a $12 fee; additional convenience fees may apply. If you are paying with a check or money order, you must make the check or money order payable to the City of Riverside.
To request a copy of a police report online, you can access the LexisNexis search tool through the police department’s webpage on the City of Riverside’s website. The online search tool allows you to search for the report once you provide the appropriate report number, date of the incident, location, or last names associated with the incident. Accidents resulting in fatalities will not be available online. You will need to pay the fee of $12 to process your request plus an additional $10 to cover convenience fees. Overall, you will be required to pay $22 if you request a copy of a police report online.
If you want to request your report in person or online, you have to locations to which you can go in person or mail your report. The addresses and hours of operation are reproduced below:
