On February 9, 2022, Harbor Freight Tools issued a recall for their Pittsburgh Automotive Pneumatic Roller Seats. According to the recall, number 22-075, the weld connection from the seat to the seat post can potentially break, resulting in a fall risk. The recall affects approximately 478,800 units of the product.
The following item numbers and UPCs are included in the recall:
- Item number 61896 (UPC 792363618960)
- Item number 46319 (UPC 193175340764)
- Item number 63456 (UPC 792363634564)
These are the Pittsburgh Automatic-brand pneumatic roller seats. They are swivel seats and are red with a 15 to 20-inch pneumatic lift range; they also have a black storage tray above the wheels. The affected seats have Product Registration Number CA-44417 on a white label located on the bottom of the storage tray. The item number can be found on a label on the front of the storage tray. The UPC can be found on a label on the underside of the storage tray.
According to the recall, there have been at least 96 reports of the seat weld breaking; this includes at least ten reports of minor injuries, including bruises after falls.
The recalled roller seats were sold at Harbor Freight Tools stores around the country and online via www.harbofreight.com from July 2014 through September 202; they were sold for approximately $30 each.
The company is urging affected consumers to stop using the products and return them to their nearest Harbor Freight Tools stores for either a free replacement or a full refund (gift card); another option is to contact the company for a prepaid return shipping label.
If you or a loved one suffered injuries associated with the defective roller seats recalled by Harbor Freight Tools, it is important that you do not return the seat for a replacement or a refund; instead, you should seek legal assistance as soon as possible as you might have grounds to file a lawsuit.
