On June 7, 2021, at approximately 8 a.m. a man that was working at the CBS studio was injured after a wall – weighing approximately 600 lbs. – collapsed on him. The incident occurred specifically at the CBS Radford lot in Studio City, CA. The incident comes soon after a crew member working at a site died at the studio after a medical emergency.
According to reports from Cal/OSHA, the injured man is an employee of CBS Studio center. The man was hospitalized after the incident for a dislocated shoulder. The agency is investigating the incident.
Considering that the affected worker only suffered a dislocated shoulder, many would consider him lucky. However, the lack of life-threatening injuries does not take away from the seriousness of the situation.

About Cal/OSHA
The Division of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) is known as Cal/OSHA. Cal/OSHA is dedicated to protecting and improving “the health and safety of working men and women in California” among other things. Cal/OSHA is responsible for setting and enforcing workplace standards, providing outreach, assistance, and education, and also issuing approvals, registrations, certifications, permits, and licenses.
Cal/OSHA essentially oversees workplace safety. All workplace accidents resulting in serious injury or illness (including death) must be reported to the agency. The agency also handles complaints made by workers affected by the unsafe workplace conditions.
After workplace accidents, injured employees and their families might immediately think of filing a lawsuit. However, it is important that affected parties go through the necessary motions before jumping into taking legal action (i.e., filing a complaint with Cal/OSHA and filing a workers’ compensation claim).
Without a doubt, speaking to an experienced workplace injury lawyer can help you understand your rights after a workplace incident. In fact, an experienced workplace accident lawyer could guide you every step of the way until you recover what you are owed. Potential Compensation for Workplace Injuries
Without a doubt, you could be eligible to file an injury lawsuit if you or a member of your family suffered a workplace incident that resulted in significant harm. If you file a lawsuit, you could be entitled to recover compensation for some of the following: medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, funeral and burial costs, loss of consortium, property damages, punitive damages, and legal fees. The specific type and amount of compensation that you could be eligible to receive will always be strictly based on the details surrounding the incident and the harm suffered.
What if you file a workers’ compensation claim? If you file a workers’ compensation claim, the benefits that you could receive include the following: medical expense, partial lost wages, temporary/permanent disability benefits, etc.
In addition to monetary compensation, filing complaints after a workplace accident could also result in significant changes in the workplace, including but not limited to changes in policy, changes in training, changes in safety standards, changes in workplace practices, etc.
