BRP, or Bombardier Recreational Products, is recalling several models of snowmobiles due to an issue with the fuel injector hose. A defective component can cause the hose to come loose and cause a fuel leak. This can easily cause a fire while someone is on or near the vehicle. The recall was issued after five reports of the fuel hose coming loose, resulting in two fire incidents. Below is a list of the models that are being recalled:
- 2022 Ski-Doo Backcountry 850 E-TEC
- 2022 Ski-Doo Backcountry 850 E-TEC Turbo
- 2022 Ski-Doo Expedition 850 E-TEC

If you or someone you know has one of these snowmobiles, stop using it immediately and contact BRP, if they have not reached out to you already. Affected consumers can have the product inspected and repaired for free at an authorized dealership. But if you have been injured by this product, it’s unlikely that a free repair service will be of benefit to you. Normandie Law Firm can help you obtain compensation, such as medical expenses, property damage, lost wages, and pain and suffering. Injuries Associated with Fire Hazards
Most people associate burns with a fire hazard, and that is certainly one category of injury you can end up with. But there are many other health complications that you can suffer from. For example, excessive smoke entering your lungs can lead to serious damage. Complications from smoke inhalation include respiratory distress, suffocation, brain damage, seizures, and loss of consciousness.
In addition, you may have broken bones and fractures, deep cuts, and other serious injuries if the fire from the snowmobile causes you to crash or fall off the vehicle. If you’ve sustained bodily harm from a defective BRP snowmobile, call us right away to take action on an accident claim against the manufacturer.
Steps to Take Right after Your Accident
The key to recovering maximum payment is to take the right steps after you’ve been injured by a recalled product. Each accident is different, but the following actions can be helpful in just about every case:
- Start the process of gathering evidence by taking pictures of your injuries and any other damage caused by your accident.
- Make sure to get written statements from witnesses or ask for their contact information.
- Go to a hospital for medical treatment to give yourself the best possible chance of recovery.
- Let the manufacturer know about the harm you’ve suffered, but do not agree to give a recorded statement or accept any remedy they offer (free repair service, refund, etc.) until you’ve spoken with an attorney.
- Contact our office to speak with a product recall lawyer as soon as possible.
Is there a Class Action Lawsuit or Mass Tort on This Case?
Class action claims and mass torts can be effective if you are seeking compensation from a product manufacturer. Chances are, many other people have sustained injuries from these snowmobiles, so it makes sense to join with them in a lawsuit against BRP. But you should take the time to learn about all the available legal options before making such an important decision. We are available to take your call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so don’t hesitate to contact us if you’d like to speak with an experienced class action lawyer.
