Lawyer for 101 Ventura Freeway Accident July 27, 2017
Our law firm is currently investigating an accident that occurred 7-27-2017 on the 101 Freeway. 3 people were killed in the early hours of Thursday, July 27, in a two-car collision on the 101 Freeway in Ventura, authorities said.
The crash occurred just after midnight on the southbound side of the freeway as a result of one of the drivers speeding and driving the wrong way. Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters saw the remains of the crash: one vehicle on the guardrail of Lemon Grove Bridge, and the other a few hundred feet away stopped on the roadway.
The vehicle driving the wrong way was said by authorities to have been traveling at over 100 mph. It crossed the center divider and proceeded to drive in the fast lane of the 101 southbound; the other vehicle, police said, did not have a chance to avoid it. They collided head-on.
The grisly crash shut down all but one lane of the freeway throughout the early hours of the morning.
Despite the speeding vehicle traveling on the wrong side of the freeway, there has been no information released by police as to whether or not the driver was under the influence of any drugs or alcohol.
All of the victims were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, and none have been identified.
Compensation for Car Crash Victims
Victims of car accidents are entitled to compensation from the results of a personal injury lawsuit. If you have been injured in a car crash due to negligent actions of another person, you may be eligible for a sizeable settlement for the damages you have suffered. This settlement can take care of many issues, including:
- Cover medical costs, including hospitalization fees, one-time and ongoing treatment, ongoing medication or pharmaceutical costs, and ambulatory fees.
- Loss of income or wages in both the short term, during which time injuries or wounds may prevent you from returning to work or completing your responsibilities without work restrictions; and in the long term, during which time your improvement rate may have stagnated and you must opt to pursue disability options instead.
- Economic Damages, such as damage to the vehicle, all personal belongings in the vehicle, or estate damage (if the crash affected your home or land)
- Other Damages, which can be psychological injuries, psychiatric conditions, and pain and suffering.
Even in the case of a car accident that features no survivors, you are still entitled to restitution from the responsible party’s estate. If direct, negligent actions brought about the death of a loved one, you can pursue a wrongful death claim against the deceased. This wrongful death claim can garner you compensation for grief, loss of companionship, pain and suffering, funeral or burial costs, and loss of wages or income resulting in hardship.
