There was a violent collision on the eastbound 10 near Cherry Avenue in Fontana which killed four people and injured two others. Police are investigating a possible DUI crash, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A woman was driving a Honda four-door sedan and had stopped on the side of the road because her car was overheating. A short time later, a white pickup truck violently smashed into the back of the Honda, killing four of its occupants.
The two survivors, the woman who owned the Honda and the pick-up truck driver sustained minor injuries and were taken to the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center. One of the victims was thrown out from the vehicle as first responders recovered a body from the other side of the concrete barrier next to the freeway.
Authorities are trying to determine if the driver of the pick-up truck was under the influence at the time of the crash. Evidence of substance abuse was found in the vehicle.
